Ho-ho-Hadley
Santa has been to our house practically every day this week! He arrives in a big brown truck with soundboards, recording interfaces, in-ear monitor systems, and soundproofing materials. When we return at the end of the day, it’s often quite a chore to navigate through the mazes of cardboard boxes. It’s like a strange combination of Christmas and the movie Groundhog Day, where Santa has to put on a UPS uniform and come to Hadley everyday with new toys until he finally completes the band’s gear setup. He is getting pretty close, but we are still waiting on a few crucial items. Sam has most graciously “taken the reins” on putting together a comprehensive and ambitious wishlist to guide Santa in his endeavors.
It is a time of great joy for us, but not as much for Santa, especially when he plans poorly and has to dig our heaviest packages out of the very back of his truck. Santa remembers fondly the pre-recession era, when he did not have to work so many offseason hours. This is also a time of some sadness for the band’s bank account, which is temporarily reduced to the equivalent value of one coal-lump. We’re looking to remedy that situation forthwith, but we need to practice (a lot) first.
