"Don’t be a Mo Show No Show"

Darlingside is celebrating the close of Movember with our very own Mo Show, in an effort to “change the face of men’s health” by raising money and awareness for men’s health and prostate cancer research. 50% of the our proceeds will go towards cancer research, and we’ll be passing around donation receptacles as well.

Come to T. T. the Bear’s place tomorrow night at 10 PM and celebrate the great and oft-misunderstood tradition of growing hair on part (but not all) of your face. We’ve been growing and trimming and doing our darndest to represent the “abilities” with which we have been collectively “blessed”, and we’re excited to show you the “results”. Bring yours and put us all to shame.

(And if you can’t make it to the show, we invite you to show your support for the Movement and donate online to our team!)

"MOVEMBER: Upcoming “MO SHOW” at TT the Bear’s Place"

Look at that milky little ‘stache!

It’s growing season! As part of the Movember movement, members of Darlingside are growing moustaches to raise awareness for men’s health and prostate cancer. Help the Darlingside team raise donations for the Movember charity by following this link and clicking on the “Donate to my team” button.

And even more! Whether yours is a fuzzy little caterpillar perched on the upper lip, a thick handlebar of manhood arching down to your jaw, or a thin patch of stray hairs struggling to cohere…

…bring along that handsome moustachioed face to TT the Bear’s Place for the Darlingside MO SHOW on Movember 28th. 50% of Darlingside’s proceeds from the concert will go to the Movember movement to battle prostate cancer. We’re growing our best ‘staches for the event–come wearing yours! If you can’t grow one, we’ll be handing out stick-on ‘staches for you to wear. See you there!

"Rock N Roll Hotel Show Cancelled"

To our friends in and around DC,

We regret to announce that the Rock N Roll Hotel show has been called off, as it would appear that the east coast is already in for a bit of a rocker. The storm’s timing is as bad as it could be, and safety is very important to us, so we’re erring on the side of caution. For those of you who pre-purchased tickets, we’re not yet sure of the venue’s cancellation policy, but hang on to your receipts and check our website or facebook page over the coming days for more information.

We’re very sad we can’t make it, but we’ll keep you posted on future DC tour dates. In the meantime, please be safe! There’ll be plenty of time for outdoor romps come monday.

Until next time,

– Darlingside

"The Studio Arrives"

After a month of songwriting and some time off with our families and loved ones, the band is back at home, where a very large white truck just dropped off a recording studio (some assembly required). We are now officially hunkered down. Stay tuned…

"Presenting: Exit Clov, Meatballs"

Don’t forget, we’re still taking submissions for the open mic. Send us your artistic creations, artist recommendations, policy memos, whatever.

This Saturday, the 26th, we’ll be playing a set at 8pm at Rockwood Music Hall, Stage 2. We’re particularly excited about this show for a few reasons: (1) it’s the last stop of our tour, which means that Chauncey gets some well-deserved R&R; (2) NYC is the greatest city in the world, and certainly one of our favorite audiences to play for; (3) immediately after, and perhaps also before, and maybe even during our set, we’ll be procuring eats from The Meatball Shop, just around the corner from the venue; and finally, (4) we’re excited to be sharing the stage with the D.C.-based indie-rock band Exit Clov (videos below). Like us, they call themselves a “quintet”, and feature drums, guitar, bass, and two multi-instrumentalist string players. Unlike us, the string players are sisters, and also twins, and also girls. We’re looking forward to their set (they’re on at 11, so you’ll have plenty of time between sets to partake of some meatball with us…), not unlike the way Chauncey is looking forward to some sweet, sweet driveway time.

"The ____ City In Review"

Western Massachusetts has many lovely little cities. We’re lucky enough to call the Paradise City our hometown, but we love to explore the other offerings nearby when such opportunities present themselves. We had an eventful Friday of exploration (and otherwise… more on that later!) a week ago, traveling from Hadley (the Asparagus Capital of the World) down to The Paper City (Holyoke) for a photoshoot in an old mill, aptly-named Paper City Studios. We’ll keep you waiting a little longer before we unveil the fruits of that project, but early results are encouraging. The next stop on our little _____ City tour brought us up to the Silk City (Florence) for a show at an also aptly-named bar, the Silk City Taproom, just hours later.

Unfortunately, our little tour ended there, because Brattleboro, VT, doesn’t enjoy a similarly-formatted nickname, despite being a lovely little mill town itself. It is, however, the only Brattleboro in the US, and probably the only one in the world.  Wow.  We are honored that they asked us to play in their town.  To be honest, it’s probably because we’re the only band named Darlingside in the world.*  We played the Hooker-Dunham Theater with the lovely Anais Mitchell, who put on a truly outstanding performance for a sold out crowd.

Live performances aside, Darlingside had an exciting end-of-week, as many of you know already!  On Friday, we were humbled and honored to be chosen (with a little help from our fans) as the winners of the final round of Sennheiser’s Hear.I.Am campaign, which gives us an additional high-profile showcase down in Austin, TX during the South By Southwest festival, a bunch of sweet Sennheiser gear, and plenty of other great opportunities and prizes.  We’ve said it before, but we really mean it, so I’ll say it again: we couldn’t have done it without the support of all of our amazing fans, without whom we could not do what we do.  So again, thank you!

In still other news, we’re featured on this month’s OurStage Editor’s Picks with lots of other outstanding artists.  We’re grateful to our friends over at OurStage, who have been consistently supportive of our efforts.  If you don’t already have Good Man, you can grab a download from their page, and pass it along to your friends to enjoy!

These past few days have been full of writing and some personal traveling as we prepare for next week’s departure on our SXSW tour.  We’re currently hanging out at Clem’s Cafe in Rutland, VT, getting a little bit of work done after an outstanding show in nearby Proctor last night with our good friend Caitlin Canty.  We’re heading up to The Monkey House in Winooski, VT (just a few blocks from downtown Burlington!) for a headlining show tonight, and then back home for final tour preparations this weekend.   Wish us luck… when next you read a Week In Review, we’ll be somewhere between Toronto and Ann Arbor, MI… we hope to see you out on the road!

*Unfortunately, there is another Darlingside, though.  Darlingside, ON is (to our limited knowledge) the only town named Darlingside in the world, and used to be the only Darlingside, before we came along.  We are not named for or affiliated with the town.
